Our Instructors

All martial arts instructors at Dangerfield Martial Arts in Temple Hills, Maryland are trained to ensure that our martial arts classes are safe, effective and fun.

Our instructors and instructor assistants are trained to focus on more than just teaching martial arts skills. Instructors also learn how to work with all students, tailoring their martial arts teaching methods to fit the individual child. Emphasis is put on encouragement and positive correction.

We are committed to teaching the physical skills of martial arts while applying attitude-shaping exercises aimed at bringing out the best character and physical potential in each student. Through weekly martial arts training, instructors advance their own martial art and educational knowledge to become even more effective martial arts teachers.

Shifu-Guro Tim Crawford Sr.

 

Shifu-Guro Tim Crawford Sr. is a United States Army Desert Storm Veteran who began in the art of boxing during his teenage years at Finley’s Gym, in Washington D.C.  Mr. Finley and school mate William Jones took the time to train Shifu Tim in life skills and boxing while competing against other great fighters from boxing clubs around the D.C. Maryland and Virginia area.

Shifu-Guro Tim later joined the United States Army and started boxing in the Golden Gloves program at Ft. Gordon GA.  In 1990, he began training in martial arts under a fellow soldier who practiced Tae Kwon Do on his off time in Saudi Arabia.  When Shifu-Guro Tim returned to the states, he joined the Jhoon Rhee Institute and began organized martial arts training in Tae Kwon Do.  Shifu Tim spent several years teaching youth Tae Kwon Do before obtaining two other black belts in Shaolin Kung Fu and Street Combat Martial Arts.

​Shifu Tim has been fortunate to train under Grand Master Henry Espera from Rapido Realismo Kali International in Manila, Philippines. He has also trained with Guro Adrien Quidlat, and Guro Isagani Abon from Combative and FMA Training in Manila, Philippines.  Shifu Tim has competed in many martial arts tournaments and left the circuit as a champion in forms and point sparring.  He has led many youth and adults to obtaining their black belts in martial arts and has helped many people with a fresh start in successful living.

Shifu-Guro Tim Crawford Sr. is a very discipline instructor and model citizen in the area who enforces all the great qualities of the martial arts.  He continues to train in the martial arts every week and is now the Chief Instructor and CEO of Dangerfield Martial Arts Academy in Temple Hills, MD.

Shifu-Sensie Andrei Thomas

 

Sensei-Shifu Andre began practicing martial arts in 2001 at the age of seven years old.  He studied Tae Kwon Do under Masters Jerome Baxter who is one of the first lead instructors for Master Jhoon Rhee in the Temple Hills, MD area.  Sensei Thomas spent years of rigorous training with Master Baxter and was promoted to the rank of a Black belt at the age of fourteen.

Sensei Andre moved on to gain two other black belts in Shaolin Kung Fu and Street Kuntao under Shifu-Guru Tim Crawford Sr. of Dangerfield Martial Arts in Temple Hills, MD.  Sensei originally trained with Shifu-Guro Tim for the purpose of making martial arts movies during Shifu’s graduation projects at the Art Institute of Washington.  This transitioned into full-time training in Kung Fu and Street Kuntao.  After training several years with Shifu-Guro Tim Crawford, and Shifu Timothy Houff in the parking lot of Drew Freeman Middle School in Prince Georges Co. MD, Dangerfield Martial Arts Academy was established.

Shifu-Guro Tim Crawford opened up Dangerfield Martial Arts where Shifu Andre Thomas is currently the Director of the Little Gladiators Program for children ages four to six.  Shifu Andre Thomas continues to train in the arts of Kung Fu and Street Kuntao and has been instrumental in the development of the Little Gladiators program.

Sensei-Shifu  Andre Thomas is the Lead Instructor of the Little Gladiators Program at Dangerfield Martial Arts and a Computer Programmer for a Governmental agency in Washington DC.  Shifu Andre is a very discipline instructor and model citizen in the area who enforces all the great qualities of the martial arts and the vision of Shifu-Guro Tim Crawford Sr. for the Dangerfield into new students while guiding them towards the goal of becoming future black belts.
